EDNA'S HOT CROSS BUNS
Dear Old-Fashioned Girl - the scalloped corn was very nice. I am exceptionally fond of corn. Perhaps you would like this recipe for hot cross buns.

One cup scalded milk, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 yeast cake, dissolved in 1/4 cup lukewarm water, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 3 cups flour, 1 egg, 1/4 cup raisins. Add butter, sugar and salt to milk, and when lukewarm add the dissolved yeast cake, flour, cinnamon and egg well beaten, and when thoroughly mixed the raisins.

Cover and let rise overnight. In the morning shape into large biscuits, place in pan, about an inch apart, let rise until nearly double in bulk, brush with beaten egg and bake about 20 minutes. When cool, put on frosting in the form of a cross. If desired these may be started in the morning by using one whole yeast cake instead of a half, and will be ready to bake in the early afternoon.
