HOT BEEF PASTIES (Hand Warmers) 
3 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cold water (about)
3/4 c. diced raw potatoes
1 c. diced cooked roast beef
1/4 c. peas
1/2 c. mushrooms, drained
Salt and pepper
1 c. beef gravy

Mix flour, shortening, salt and cold water as you would for pastry. Divide into 6 equal parts. Roll each into 1/2 to 3/16 of an inch thick circles.

Combine potatoes, roast beef, peas and mushrooms. Distribute this mixture evenly on half side of each of the 6 pastry circles. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Carefully drip 2 to 3 tablespoons of gravy over each.

Dampen edge of pastry. Fold other half of pastry and press edges together. Seal with a fork, press down lightly. Place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Makes 6 servings.
