TENNESSEE BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Mix in buttermilk. Knead lightly and roll out. Cut 1/2 inch thick. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
