STUFFED CABBAGE ROLLS | |
12 cabbage leaves 1 lb. ground round 1 tsp. salt 1 c. cooked rice 1 tbsp. brown sugar 1/4 c. water 1 sm. onion, chopped 1 egg 1/2 tsp. pepper 2 cans tomato sauce 1 tbsp. lemon juice Cook cabbage leaves 5 minutes until limp. Cool and drain and then combine meat, salt, rice, onion, egg and pepper. Place portions of meat mixture in center of each leaf. Roll-up and fasten with toothpick. Brown in hot cooking oil and pour in tomato sauce. Combine sugar, lemon juice and stir into tomato sauce. Simmer covered 1 hour, basting occasionally. |
