COFFEE-DATE BARS 
1 1/4 c. sifted all purpose flour
2 tbsp. instant coffee powder
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. finely chopped dates
1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts

Measure flour, instant coffee, baking powder, and salt into a sifter. Beat eggs until light in a medium size bowl, beat in sugar slowly. Continue beating until thick then beat in dates and walnuts. Sift flour mixture over and fold in. Spread in a greased baking pan; 13 x 9 x 2.

Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 35 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack, cut into bars.
