CZECHOSLOVAKIAN CHICKEN PAPRI KASH | |
1 cut-up chicken 2 tbsp. oil 3 tbsp. paprika 1 c. sour cream 1 sm. pkg. noodles (1/4) 1 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. salt 1 c. flour 1 med. onion, sliced 2 qt. boiling water 2 tbsp. butter Salt and pepper chicken, drench in flour. Brown in oil. When brown put in heavy kettle. Put in enough water to cover chicken, bring to boil turn down to simmer. Cook onions in the oil the chicken was browned in till onions are transparent. Add to chicken plus paprika simmer 30 minutes. Beat sour cream with fork and 1/2 cup water stir in remaining flour from chicken. Stir into chicken in kettle let simmer 5 minutes. Ready to serve. Cook noodles in 2 quarts of boiling water plus 1 teaspoon salt until just tender drain well. Melt butter in skillet and noodles and stir often. Cook till noodles start to brown. When all is done use tongs to remove the chicken let it drip a little and then place on a platter. Put gravy in a serving bowl and noodles in a serving bowl. Pour gravy over a serving of noodles to eat. Gravy is also good over bread or mashed potatoes. Serves 6. |
