BEEF WITH TOMATO & PEPPERS 
1 lb. tender beef
3 med. firm tomatoes
2 med. green bell peppers
1 lg. onion
1 tsp. Hawaiian salt (Kosher-rock salt, regular table salt O.K. too, but not as tasty)
1 clove garlic
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. cornstarch

SAUCE:

1 tsp. bourbon (or cooking sherry, wine, etc.)
1 tsp. soy sauce

GRAVY:

1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 thumb-sized piece crushed ginger (or about 1 tsp. powdered ginger)
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. water

Cut beef into small thin slices. Mix with 1 teaspoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Wash and seed peppers. Cut vegetables into wedges. Parboil peppers 2 minutes in boiling water. Heat oil in pan. Brown garlic, add salt. Add beef and fry for 3 minutes. Add sauce and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add tomatoes, cook until heated through.
