FRESH APPLE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1 c. chopped nuts
4 c. fresh diced apples
1 tsp. cinnamon

Combine sugar, butter and eggs. Sift dry ingredients 3 times before adding. (I do not usually do this.) Add to above mixture. Add nuts, then apples last. (Mix in with a spoon.) Bake in 9x13 inch pan for 1 hour at 325 degrees.

ICING:

6 tbsp. melted butter
2/3 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. canned milk
1 c. coconut
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, butter and milk. Bring to a boil. Add coconut. Spread over cake and brown under broiler.

Or use mix for German Chocolate Cake from store or cream cheese frosting.
