DILL PICKLES 
20 c. water
1 c. pickling salt
1 c. white vinegar
5 clean 1 qt. jars, filled with pickling cucumbers
5 garlic cloves
3 to 4 hot chili peppers
1/4 tsp. alum and lots of dill

Boil liquid; pour over packed cucumbers. Seal and set about 1 week. If you don't want as spicy, cut back on garlic and hot chili peppers.
