FRUIT COBBLER 
2 c. fresh fruit, can be increased
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. baking powder

Arrange fruit in 8 or 9 inch square pan. Cover with 1 cup of sugar, dot with butter. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, beat. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add flour mixture alternately with milk to shortening and sugar. Pour over fruit. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Check after 40 minutes.
