DATE AND NUT BARS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. melted butter

Mix well together.

2ND PART:

1/2 lb. chopped dates
1 c. water
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cook this part until thick then cool.

Spread 3/4 of first part into 9x13 pan. Spread date mixture over crust. Spread remaining crumbs over date mixture. Bake at 325 for 35 minutes.
