HOME STYLE PEACH COBBLER | |
Origin: American (ARKANSAS) Very easy. Quick to prepare. This is an authentic down home recipe. BATTER: 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1 egg 2 heaping tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla Enough flour to make a thick batter 1 stick (1/2 c.) butter (lightly salted) 1 lg. can sliced peaches in syrup Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt stick of butter in deep oven dish (a large souffle' dish is recommended). Pour batter over butter. Do Not Stir. Pour the entire can of sliced peaches (juice included) over batter. Do Not Stir. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 90 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm or cooled. Delicious with vanilla ice cream, too. NOTE: For a lighter version of this recipe, substitute lowfat or nonfat milk for whole milk, butter or "lite" blends for butter, and peaches in their natural juices instead of in heavy syrup. |
