EGGLESS, MILKLESS, BUTTERLESS
CAKE
 
1 c. med. sugar
1 c. seedless raisins
1/3 c. lard (oleo may be used - omit salt)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. water

Boil above mixture together for 3 minutes and cool. When cold, stir in one teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water. Add 2 cups sifted flour with 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Bake in loaf pan slowly or in gem pans.
