SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter, add sugar gradually until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Chill 3-4 hours. Roll out and cut. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes.

ICING:

1/4 c. butter
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 lb. confectioners' sugar

Cream together butter, cream cheese, and vanilla. Gradually add confectioners' sugar until desired consistency is achieved.
