VEGETABLE CHOWDER | |
1/4 lb. salt pork 1/2 c. coarsely chopped onion 1 1/2 c. cubed raw potatoes 1/2 c. coarsely chopped celery 1 c. carrots 1 c. boiling water 1 (10 oz.) frozen chopped broccoli 1/4 c. flour 1 qt. milk 2 tsp. salt 1 c. shredded American cheese Slice salt pork - fry until crisp in heavy pan over moderate heat, remove pieces. Add onions, cook until lightly browned. Add vegetables and water. Cover and cook 10 minutes. Add broccoli, cheese, and milk until thickened. |
