BROWN AND GOLD CAKE 
2 1/4 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Sift together and set aside.

2/3 c. Ol Eo
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. lemon or orange extract
1/2 tsp. yellow food coloring

Cream until shortening is soft. Add 1 1/2 cups sugar and cream thoroughly. Add 3 eggs (well beaten). Measure 1 cup milk and add to creamed mixture, alternately with dry ingredients. Beat until smooth. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
