COFFEE CAKE 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
1 c. strong cold coffee
4 eggs
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. currants
4 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ground cloves

With mixer, combine brown sugar and shortening. Add eggs, molasses and strong coffee, mix well. In a separate bowl, dust with flour 1 pound raisins and 1 pound currants. Add to above mixture.

Add 1 cup of sifted flour also soda and all spices. Mix well. Then add 3 remaining cups of flour. Add nuts last. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees. Divide batter in 2 greased and floured loaf pans.
