3 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. dark raisins (1/2 lb.)
1/2 lb. candied cherries
1 lb. dates
1/2 lb. nuts (2 c.)
1 can unsweetened applesauce
1 stick melted butter

Mix all ingredients and add dates last. Pour into greased pan, bottom and sides lined with wax paper. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour 45 minutes. Makes a big cake - I use big tube pan. No frosting needed.
