SCOTCH CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar, divided
1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. water
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix flour and 1 cup sugar in a mixing bowl. In a saucepan, boil 1 cup sugar, butter, shortening and cocoa. Pour over flour and sugar. Add remaining ingredients.

Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Icing:

1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecans
1 c. coconut

Boil butter, cocoa and milk. Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, pecan and coconut. Spread on cooled cake.
