DUTCH REFRIGERATOR COOKIES | |
1 c. shortening 1/2 c. white sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. cloves 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts Cream together shortening and sugars; add egg and beat well. Put in all dry ingredients and mix again, add nuts. Shape into rolls about 2 1/2" across, wrap in waxed paper. Chill thoroughly, preferably overnight. Slice very thin, about 1/8". Bake 1" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet in 350 degree oven for 5 to 7 minutes or until delicately brown. Remove at once to rack to cool. Makes 5 to 6 dozen. |
