WHOLE GRAIN JAM SQUARES 
4 c. rolled oats
3 1/2 c. flour
2 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. preserves (jelly or jam)

Combine all ingredients except preserves in large mixing bowl. Beat at low speed on electric mixer until mixture is crumbly. Set aside 1 cup of mixture. Press remaining mixture into bottom of 9x13 inch pan.

Spread preserves evenly over base. Sprinkle with reserved mixture. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until brown. Cool and cut into squares.
