APPLE PUDDING CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
2 whole eggs
4 c. peeled chopped apples
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
Nuts (optional)

Cream sugar and shortening, add eggs and continue creaming. Add apples and sifted dry ingredients. Bake at 375 degrees in a 9 x 13 inch pan for 30 to 35 minutes. Cake is crusty on top; top cracks and falls as it cools. Delicious plain or with whipped topping; a good fall dessert.
