BROWN SUGAR PIE | |
3 c. brown sugar 1 c. white sugar Dash of salt 3 tbsp. flour 1 stick butter 1 tsp. vanilla 5 egg yolks 4 c. milk 2 unbaked pie shells Mix all sugar, salt, and flour together. Add yolks, well beaten, butter, vanilla. Stir together and cook until thick. Pour into pie shells. Beat 3 egg whites, room temperature and 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar until foamy. Add 1/4 cup white sugar and beat until stiff peaks form and sugar dissolves, 2-4 minutes. Spread over filling, sealing to edge of pie shells. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown. |
