BROWN SUGAR CUSTARD PIE 
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 c. milk
2 or 3 eggs
2 tbsp. butter (room temperature)
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 (9-inch) pie crust (deep-dish)

Beat eggs; add sugar and cornstarch, then add butter, milk and vanilla. (Use wooden spoon or whisk, not electric mixer.) Cover bottom of unbaked pie crust with pecans or raisins; pour pie mixture in pie crust and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 275°F; bake until firm.
