5 c. sugar 1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk 1/4 lb. butter 12 oz. (3/4 of 16 oz. jar) marshmallow creme 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. pecans or walnuts (optional) 2 lg. (12 oz.) pkgs. semi-sweet chocolate pieces Bring to a boil over moderate heat being careful not to mistake escaping air bubbles for boiling. Then boil slowly, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes. (Overcook rather than undercook). Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate, vanilla, and nuts, if used, until chocolate is melted. Pour into 2 buttered 9 x 9 inch pans. Cool. Yield: 5 pounds. |
