MOM'S DEEP-DISH PIZZA | |
1 pkg. (1 tbsp.) active dry yeast 1 c. warm (110 degrees) water 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. vegetable oil 2 1/2 c. flour (all-purpose and/or wheat) Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining ingredients; beat vigorously 20 strokes. Let rest about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, grease a 9x13 inch cake pan or a round pizza pan. Pat dough in pan, pressing dough up on the sides about 1 inch. Sprinkle dough with shredded Mozzarella cheese (about 3/4 cup). Bake in a preheated 425 degree oven for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted. Remove from oven and add your favorite sauce or canned tomatoes. Top the tomatoes with your favorite toppings (black olives, sausage, mushrooms, etc.) Top with Mozzarella cheese. Bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted and light brown. Approximately 6-8 servings. |
