CHOCOLATE BUTTONS 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter, softened
3 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (4 oz.) non-pareil candies
Confectioners' sugar

Combine sugar, butter, chocolate and vanilla; blend well. Beat in eggs. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to chocolate mixture. Stir well. Chill for 30 minutes. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. (Put some sugar on hands to help with the shaping.) Roll in confectioners' sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees on ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes. Top will still look moist. Immediately place a candy non-pareil in center of each cookie. Bake 5-10 more minutes. Let stand 3-5 minutes, then cool on cookie rack. Makes 54 cookies.
