PEAR CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening or butter
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 lg. cans pears
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream together sugar, shortening and eggs. Sift together flour, cinnamon, cloves, salt, soda; add to sugar, egg and butter mixture. Drain juice from pears and add to above mixture. Cook 1 hour at 350 degrees for sheet cake.
