ALMOND COOKIES 
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. almond extract
1 egg
2 tbsp. corn syrup or honey
1 egg, well beaten for coating
1/2 c. whole almonds, blanched

Sift flour with baking soda. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, corn syrup and almond extract and mix well. Blend in flour. Divide dough in half, shape each half into long roll 1 1/2" in diameter. Cut into 1" sections. Shape each piece into a ball. Place 2" apart on greased cookie sheet. Brush top of cookie with beaten egg and lightly press almond on top. Place cookies on the top rack. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 11 minutes or until light brown. Makes 2 1/2 dozen. May be frozen after baking.
