ALMOND BARS 
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. honey
3 eggs, well beaten
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. finely chopped blanched almonds
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
Grated rind of 1 lemon

Cream shortening and sugar. Add honey, eggs, lemon. Mix thoroughly. Sift flour, measure and sift three times with baking powder, salt. Add chopped almonds and flavoring. Mix thoroughly. Pour into shallow, well oiled pan. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool. Turn onto board well dusted with powdered sugar. Cut in oblong bars. Roll in powdered sugar. Makes 16 servings.
