A GOOD SHEET CAKE | |
2 c. sugar 1 c. butter 1 c. sweet milk 1 tsp. vanilla 3 1/2 c. flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 7 eggs (separated) In a large mixing bowl cream the sugar and butter and stir in the milk and vanilla. On a paper sift the flour, salt and baking powder twice and fold in. Separate the eggs (saving the yolks for future baking) and whip the whites until frothy and fold in. Grease and flour a sheet pan, but if you do not have one then grease and flour four 9x13 inch cake pans and divide the dough between them, spreading thin or sheet cake squares will be too thick. Bake in 350 degree oven 35 to 40 minutes. Ice with any butter-sugar icing and decorate with any type of colored candies or rosebud mints. |
