A SIMPLE CURRY SAUCE
This is excellent for dressing up leftovers or for using when making casseroles.

1 tbsp. curry powder
1 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup whole milk or coconut milk

Rub together butter and flour until mixed. Stir in curry powder. Melt this slowly in milk, stirring until dissolved to avoid lumps. (If lumps happen, process in a blender until smooth).

Use this very basic and easy to prepare sauce to heat cooked and cleaned shrimp, lobster or crab meat (cooked - both imitation and real) or chicken.

Taste and add salt and pepper, as needed (the full amount of the salt may not be required).

A Simple Curry Sauce

Good ingredients but definitely do NOT mix flour and butter before it has melted and liquified, like the recipe says. If you do then you get lumps of dough which can't even be used to make curry paste!

Oh my goodness, this hit the spot. I was in London a year ago and had curry and have been craving it since and not able to find here. This tasted so similar. I might not have added enough milk as it was a little thick and chunky but I will experiment. Oh yeah!

Great basic recipe! Just found it needed 1/2 teaspoon of sugar for a little added sweetness but maybe just my taste.

Made this tonight exactly as directed and added precooked chicken. Bland. Will make again but double curry amount. Perhaps even adding more spices. Very easy and fun to make.

When making any type of sauces, here is a quick tip REMOVE the cooking vessel from the Heat and stir in liquid, stir well, return to low /medium heat, constant stirring, preferably using a wooden spoon, as your sauce thickens /cooks there will be NO LUMPS ... believe me!

This is just a basic white sauce (bechamel) with curry added. For those who are amazed by its simplicity, just know that you can leave out or replace the curry and use this recipe many different ways. For example, replace the butter with meat fat drippings and it becomes a gravy.

I made this easy recipe and it is a "hit".
I will definitely be making this from now on. Better than store bought (especially since I know all of the ingredients).
Thank you
