HOMEMADE ICE CREAM 
4 c. milk
4 c. whipping cream
1 1/2 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt

In 3-quart saucepan, combine milk and whipping cream. Cook over low heat until warm, 6 to 8 minutes. In large mixer bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth, 2 to 3 minutes. Gradually stir into milk mixture. Cool to room temperature. Pour into ice cream canister. Freeze in ice cream maker according to manufacturer's directions. Makes 3 quarts.
