2 c. warm molasses 1 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. Crisco 1 lg. egg, well beaten 1 c. golden raisins 1 c. dark raisins 1 lb. candied mixed fruit 1 c. pecans, chopped 1 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 c. dates, chopped 2 tbsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. ginger 1/4 tsp. ground cloves 8 c. flour Use part of flour to flour fruit and nuts. Mix all ingredients. Put in cool place and let set overnight or longer. Roll out and cut in round shape. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Watch that they do not burn. Mix glaze and brush on top of warm cookies. GLAZE: Mix powdered sugar with milk, lemon or orange juice or vanilla and pinch of salt. |
