LEMON SQUARES 
1 1/2 sticks butter
2 c. flour
1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
4 eggs, well beaten
2 lemons, juice and grated rind
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. confectioners' sugar

Cut butter into flour and confectioners' sugar like pastry. Press this into 9 x 12 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. (Do not overbake). Add juice and grated rind of lemon, to beaten eggs. Combine baking powder, sugar and flour; add to egg and lemon mixture and beat until well blended.

Pour over hot cooked pastry. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Cool and cut into squares. Makes about 24 squares.
