1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 tbsp. hot water
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped nuts
Grated rind of 1 orange
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix in usually manner. Drop on cookie sheet. Drop on cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. While warm, frost with mixture of 3/4 cup powdered sugar and juice of grated orange. Makes 4 dozen.
