ONION SOUP 
1/4 c. butter
3 lg. onions, sliced
2 tbsp. flour
1 can (10 1/2 oz.) condensed chicken broth
1 can (10 1/2 oz.) condensed beef broth
2 1/2 c. water
6 (1") thick slices French bread
1 sm. clove garlic
1/2 c. grated Romano, Gruyere, Swiss or Parmesan cheese

Heat butter or saute onions until golden and tender. Sprinkle with flour. Gradually stir in chicken and beef broth. Add water. Simmer, stirring occasionally for 15-20 minutes or until onions are tender. Ladle soup into heat proof serving bowls.

Toast French bread and rub slices with garlic. Place bread on top of each bowl. Sprinkle bread with cheese. Broil until cheese is golden. Serve at once.
