YEAST BREAD | |
3/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. salt 3/4 c. shortening (room temp.) 2 c. evaporated milk 1 3/4 c. water 12 - 14 c. flour (plain) 2 1/2 tbsp. dry yeast (mix in 1 c. water) Mix sugar, salt, shortening, milk and water in a bowl. Mix until sugar and salt dissolve. Sift flour and add. Put yeast in water and add to dough. Mix until smooth and elastic and leaves sides of bowl. Let rise 1 1/2 hours. Knead and let rise again. Punch down and shape. Let rise again. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. |
