CORN BREAD FROM THE EASTERN
SHORE
 
1 1/2 c. yellow or white corn meal
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 c. boiling water
2 c. milk
2 beaten eggs
1/2 - 1 tsp. baking powder

Cook first 5 ingredients in saucepan until thick, stirring to keep from sticking. Add remaining 3 ingredients, stirring to blend and remove any lumps. Bake in oblong baking pan or dish at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes or until brown around edges.
