CHEESE BREADSTICKS | |
2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese 2/3 c. milk 1/3 c. butter, melted 1 egg 1 tsp. water 1/8 teaspoon of each: oregano leaves, marjoram leaves, basil leaves, dash rubbed sage can be substituted for Italian seasoning. Heat oven to 400 degrees. In medium bowl combine all ingredients except egg and water, stir until mixture no longer sticks to bowl (2 to 3 minutes). Knead dough lightly 10 times. Divide dough into 24 equal pieces. Roll each piece into 6 inch rope. Twist 2 ropes together, press lightly at ends. Repeat with remaining dough. Place on greased cookie sheet. In small bowl beat egg with water; brush on breadsticks. Bake for 12 to 17 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet immediately. Yield: 12 bread sticks. |
