APPLE PRESERVES | |
6 c. peeled, cored, sliced apples 1 c. water 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1 pkg. powdered pectin 1 lemon, thinly sliced 4 c. sugar 2 tsp. ground nutmeg Combine apples, water, and lemon juice in large sauce pot. Simmer, covered for 10 minutes. Stir in pectin and bring to full rolling boil, stirring frequently. Add lemon slices and sugar. Return to full rolling boil. Boil hard for 1 minute, stirring frequently. Remove from heat; add nutmeg. Pour hot, into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch head space. Adjust caps. Process for 10 minutes in boiling water bath. Makes about 6 pints. |
