GUMDROP COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. quick cooking oats
1 c. coconut (optional)
1 c. gumdrops, cut into small pieces

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add remaining ingredients. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.

Bake in preheated 375°F oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

Makes about 6 dozen.
