This is the same day that the bread is baked or day 10. If you receive your starter today, do nothing. It has already been stirred. Transfer starter to a wider container if it rises close to the top. (Do NOT refrigerate.) DAY 2, 3 & 4: Stir. DAY 5: Add: 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk DAY 6, 7, 8 & 9: Stir. DAY 10: Add: 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk Then pour 1 cup of mixture in each of 3 containers. This is the next starter. Give 2 to friends with these instructions, and keep one for yourself. May the Lord bless you and your friends as your share this recipe. To the remaining batter, add: 2 c. flour 1 c. sugar 3 eggs 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder Pour into 2 well greased and sugared loaf pans or 4 small loaf pans. Bake approximately 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans. You can leave batter plain or add nuts, dates, raisins or fruit pieces or make streusel. Separately mix: 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. rolled oats 1 c. nuts 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Pour 1/2 of the batter into 9 x 13 inch pan. Spread 1/2 streusel. Repeat. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Happy baking and sharing! To obtain starter, add: 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk Divide into 3. Makes 3 starters. |
