FILLED COOKIES 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
6 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
6 c. flour

Cream shortening and sugar. Mix balance of ingredients. Chill dough. Take small portion and roll out. Cut out in circles. Place a spoonful of topping on one circle and top with another circle. Bake on slightly greased sheets.

FILLING:

1 (15 oz.) pkg. raisins or 2 c. figs
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1 c. water
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Put figs or raisins through food processor. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Mix sugar, flour and water. Add chopped fruit and cook until thick. Cool before filling cookies.
