MOM'S HICKORY NUT CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. warm water
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
5 egg whites, beaten stiff but not dry
1 c. chopped hickory nuts

Cream butter and sugar. Add warm water, stir. Then add flour and baking powder. Mix well. Then add beaten egg whites. Then chopped nuts. Mix well, then bake as usual.

Mom made this for every Christmas.
