MANDELBROT (MANDEL-BREAD) 
3 eggs
1 c. salad oil
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
3 1/2 c. flour, sift flour, then measure
1/2 c. slivered almonds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix eggs, oil, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with wooden spoon. Combine baking powder with flour. Add to egg mixture 1/3 cup at a time. Add nuts and mix. Divide dough into 4 portions and knead each with a little flour to prevent stickiness.

Form each into long loaf shape in ungreased sheet. Bake 30 minutes. Remove from oven immediately; cut each loaf on slant crosswise into 1/2 inch bars. Return to oven and bake 10 minutes more or until golden. Cool.

Loren likes to use chocolate chips in place of almonds or mix them together.
