BENJI AND AARON'S FAVORITE CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1/4 lb. butter 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 c. sour milk, need a lemon & milk 1 tsp. baking soda 2 c. flour 2 1/2 squares chocolate (bitter) (2 1/2 oz.) 1 tsp. vanilla 2 tbsp. vinegar FROSTING: 1/2 c. butter 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla extract 5 squares chocolate 1 lb. confectioners' sugar 1/4 - 1/2 c. milk Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put baking soda and vinegar in bowl. Mix and set aside. Squeeze lemon into a separate bowl. Add enough milk to make 1 cup of liquid with the lemon juice. Let it sit. Cream butter and add 1/2 of the sugar as you cream, so it will mix in with it. Now add 1/2 of the eggs, one at a time. Beat thoroughly. Meanwhile, melt chocolate slowly on low-medium temperature. Add remaining sugar and eggs. When chocolate is melted, cool and add chocolate to egg mixture. Add flour and milk alternately to mixture. Start and end with flour. Add vanilla. Stir baking soda and vinegar and add. Don't over mix. Pour into 8" or 9" round pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. FROSTING: Mix ingredients together. |
