1 1/4 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
5 eggs, one at a time
3 c. flour, plain
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Brandy or rum
Nuts, optional

Mix above ingredients and place in a COLD oven. Then put control at 350 degrees for about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Do not open oven door until done. Grease and flour pan before putting cake in pan.
