AUTUMN APPLE CAKE 
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 c. oil
3 eggs
3 c. chopped apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Combine cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar and egg. Mix well and set aside. Combine dry ingredients. Add combined oil and eggs, mixing until just moistened. Fold in apples and nuts. Pour 2 cups of batter into greased and floured fluted pan. Pour cream cheese mixture over batter - spreading lightly to cover. Spoon remaining batter over cream cheese and spread. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes. Test with toothpick. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
