3 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. (3 sticks) butter, softened
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 c. (24 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 c. chopped pecans (or walnuts if desired)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In small bowl, combine flour, soda, salt; set aside.

In large mixer bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy. Gradually blend in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate morsels.
